Quranic reference to the universe A common mistake made by islamic scholars is referring to the universe as the first heaven.The first heaven (a term which appears in the hadith of the Prophet SAW only and NOT in the Quran) is not part of this universe and is considered to be a different dimension not goverened by space and time. The universe is referred to in the Quran by the following terms viz. A-Sama wati wal ard (heavens and earth) ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ B- Samaa ad dunya (the lowest heaven) لسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا C- Saba samawaat (7 heavens) -depending on the context سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَاتٍۢ D-Samaa (sky)-depending on the context ٱلسَّمَآ E-Saba an shidada (7 strong) سَبْعًۭا شِدَادًۭا F-Saba taraaiq (7 pathways) سَبْعَ طَرَآئِقَ Indeed, it is sad that we do common wrong with willingy or not that we mean Sky/Skies as Heaven/Heavens with belief of Aristotelian faith. As a Muslim we should mean Sky is Sky not Heaven/Heavens because there are 8 common heavens out sides of 7 Skies, called Sidratul Muntahaa. A-Quran 7 54 إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍۢ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ يُغْشِى ٱلَّيْلَ ٱلنَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُۥ حَثِيثًۭا وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ وَٱلنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَٰتٍۭ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗ أَلَا لَهُ ٱلْخَلْقُ وَٱلْأَمْرُ ۗ تَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٥٤ Indeed, your Lord is Allāh, who created the Skies and Earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allāh, Lord of the worlds. B-Quran 41 12 فَقَضَىٰهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَاتٍۢ فِى يَوْمَيْنِ وَأَوْحَىٰ فِى كُلِّ سَمَآءٍ أَمْرَهَا ۚ وَزَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَـٰبِيحَ وَحِفْظًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ ١٢ So He formed Seven Skiess in two Days, assigning to each its mandate. And We adorned the lowest Skies with ˹stars like˺ lamps ˹for beauty˺ and for protection. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing. C- Quran 17 44 تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ ٱلسَّبْعُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًۭا ٤٤ The seven Skiess, the earth and all those in them glorify Him. There is not a single thing that does not glorify His praises—but you ˹simply˺ cannot comprehend their glorification. He is indeed Most Forbearing, All-Forgiving. D -Quran 15 16 وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًۭا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ Indeed, We have placed constellations in the sky and adorned it for all to see. E-Quran 78 12 وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًۭا شِدَادًۭا ١٢ and built above you seven strong (Skies) F- Quran 23 17 وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ And indeed We have created above you seven taraaiq(seven paths)and We are never unaware of the creation. Allah SWT and His Prophet SAW know best Activate to view larger image, Quran and the multiverse concept 1-Reference is made to another dimension in the Quran where space and time does not exist.(A spiritual domain/place) 2-This dimension is referred to as " samaa:" in the Quran Quran 53-17 "And how many angels there are in the "samaa"whose intercession will not avail at all ...." (NB- samaa has multiple interpretations) 3-Allah SWT informs us of entities that is not present in this universe viz A-Al Bait-ul-Ma’mur -Baitul Ma’mur, also known as the “Frequented House” “And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur ” (52:4) B-Sidra tul-Muntaha (Lote Tree of the furthest boundary') /Garden of eternal abode Quran 53 14-16 14. at the Lote Tree of the most extreme limit 15. near which is the Garden of ˹Eternal˺ Residence— 16. while the Lote Tree was overwhelmed with ˹heavenly˺ splendours! C- Angels and the Throne “Those (angels) who bear the Throne and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe” (40, 7) 4-The concept of the multiverse and that there may be other universes operating according with different laws is now coming into the mainstream of modern physics. List of popular theories that support the existence of a multiverse are inter alia (see comments for references) A. Inflationary multiverse The theory of the inflationary multiverse changes the way we understand the whole picture of the universe.The theory of inflationary multiverse is based on unification of inflationary cosmology, anthropic considerations, and particle physics.The eternal inflation model implies that all macroscopic histories permitted by laws of physics are repeated an infinite number of times in the infinite multiverse. B. The String Theory -The presence of "extra dimensions" must be present to enable string theory to have mathematical logic. String theorists believe that these extra dimensions are tied up inside space's three traditional dimensions. Since humans have only developed sight in three dimensions, they are still invisible to us. The string theory multiverse could be approachable through these extra dimensions. In the string theory everything in the universe is made up of microscopic strings. The various rates at which these threads/strings may vibrate produce the many kinds of particles that comprise our natural environment.One of the most striking implications of extra dimensions and string theory is the possibility of a multiverse. The idea is that our universe is just one of many, possibly infinite, universes that exist in a “multiverse.” Each the universe would have its own set of physical laws and constants, which could be vastly different from ours. C. The Black Hole Multiverse - A black hole's center has a singularity where the mass is so enormous that the space-time curvature becomes infinite, and the rules of physics are broken.
